Once upon a time, there was a very poor miller. Before he died, he divided all his belongings among his three sons. He gave the mill to the eldest son, the donkey to the second son, and only a cat to the youngest son. The son was very upset about this inheritance, as he didn’t know how he would make a living with only a cat. However, the cat didn’t seem like an ordinary cat to him.
One morning, the cat approached the youngest son and said:
“Master, if you give me a few pairs of fine boots and a bag, I will accomplish great things for you. Together, we will become wealthy and powerful.”
The young man was surprised to hear the cat speak, but he sensed that there was something special about the cat’s eyes. So, he agreed to give the cat the boots and the bag it asked for.
The cat was very pleased and immediately put on the boots, transforming into a noble figure. “Follow me,” said the cat.
As their first task, the cat set a rabbit trap. After a few days, the trap caught some rabbits, and the cat took them to a powerful noble, saying, “These are gifts from my master, the Marquis of Carabas.”
The king respected the cat and began to trust him more. Then, the cat started making plans to arrange for the youngest son to marry the daughter of one of the wealthiest and most noble families in the kingdom.
One day, the cat went to the princess’s palace and said, “Your Highness, the Marquis of Carabas wishes to meet you. He is such a wealthy and powerful noble that he can always make you happy.”
The cat told the story so convincingly that the king and the princess invited the Marquis of Carabas to the palace.
Another day, while the cat was strolling in the palace garden with the princess, he hid in a bush and made sure that the young man was dressed in fine clothes. When the prince and princess saw him, they immediately fell in love with him. They treated him like the highest noble, unaware of his true identity.
Eventually, the princess and the Marquis of Carabas married. The cat successfully carried out every clever plan to ensure his master’s happiness. Over time, the cat gained much respect, for with his intelligence and courage, he never allowed anyone to dominate him.
And so, the cat and his master lived happily ever after. Wealth, success, and happiness spread throughout the village. The cat, always proudly wearing his boots, continued on his adventures.
