Once upon a time, there was a poor fisherman who lived with his wife in a small cottage by the sea. One day, while fishing, he caught a magical fish. The fish spoke to him and begged to be released, promising to grant him a wish in return. The fisherman, being kind-hearted, set the fish free, saying that he didn’t want anything in return.
When the fisherman returned home and told his wife about the fish, she was angry that he hadn’t asked for anything. She demanded that he go back to the fish and ask for a new house. Reluctantly, the fisherman went back to the sea, and the fish granted his wish, giving them a beautiful new house.
But the wife wasn’t satisfied. She wanted more. She asked the fisherman to return to the fish and ask for a grand palace. Again, the fish granted the wish, but the wife’s greed grew. She demanded to be queen, and then the emperor, and finally, the ruler of the universe. Each time, the fisherman went to the fish and made a new request.
Finally, when the wife wanted to be the ruler of the sun and the moon, the fish, tired of granting her endless demands, took everything back. The fisherman and his wife were left with nothing, living once again in their small cottage by the sea.
The moral of the story is that greed and endless desire for power can lead to losing everything.
