The Lion and the Mouse – Aesop’s Fable

One day, a mighty lion was resting in the forest after a long hunt. Suddenly, a little mouse ran across his paw. The lion, startled, quickly grabbed the mouse with his massive paw. The mouse squeaked in fear and begged the lion to let him go.

“Please let me go, kind lion! I am just a tiny mouse, and I promise I will repay your kindness someday.”

The lion, amused by the thought that such a small creature could ever repay him, decided to let the mouse go free. “You are lucky, little mouse. Go, and be free.”

A few days later, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net. He roared loudly, struggling to escape, but the more he struggled, the tighter the net became. The mouse, hearing the lion’s roars, immediately rushed to his aid.

Seeing the lion trapped, the mouse chewed through the ropes of the net with his sharp teeth. After a while, the net was broken, and the lion was free.

The lion, surprised and grateful, thanked the mouse. “I didn’t think a small creature like you could help me, but you’ve proven me wrong.”

The mouse smiled and replied, “You were kind to me once, and I’ve returned the favor.”
