The Nightingale And The Rose-Oscar Wilde

Once upon a time, a young student fell in love with a beautiful girl. He wanted to give her a gift, something that would show her how much he loved her. He went to his room and thought about what to give her. The young girl had told him that she would dance at the ball, but only if he could bring her a red rose. However, the student didn’t have any red roses in his garden, and there were none to be found anywhere in the town.

Feeling heartbroken, he wandered into the garden to look for a red rose. A nightingale, who had been listening from the tree, heard his sorrow and flew down to him. The nightingale asked the student what was troubling him, and the student explained that he needed a red rose to win the girl’s heart.

The nightingale, moved by the student’s love and longing, decided to help. The nightingale searched the garden, but there was no red rose to be found. Then, the nightingale understood: to create the perfect red rose, she would have to sacrifice something dear. She chose to press her breast against a thorn and sing to it all night long, allowing the thorn to pierce her heart.

As the night passed, the nightingale’s blood soaked into the flower, and by the morning, a beautiful red rose bloomed.

The nightingale, dying from the wound, took the rose in her beak and flew to the student, giving him the rose. The student, thrilled, ran to give the rose to the girl he loved. However, when he arrived, the girl turned him away, saying she could not accept the rose, as she had already received other gifts.

Devastated, the student threw the rose into the street and walked away, never to believe in love again. The nightingale’s sacrifice was forgotten, and her beautiful song was lost in the wind.
